All Souls Micro Forest
All Souls World Language Catholic School became the host location for a micro forest within the City of Alhambra, and the first within the Catholic Archdioces of Los Angeles. At only 200 square feet, this project is a test case for the smallest and most accessible micro forest design, featuring only two keystone trees, 5 large shrubs, and 22 smaller shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and grasses. A swale to direct and maximize rainwater from the downspout of the nearby building will provide the forest with ample seasonal moisture, mimicking a natural ecosystem and preventing water waste.
