Henschel Garden
Featured on the Theodore Payne Garden Tour, this ever-evolving landscape in Van Nuys is home to more than 30 different species of native plants and provides yearround color and habitat for wildlife. A recirculating fountain attracts birds, hawks, and thirsty bees, and a variety of unique found objects pepper the backyard, nearly obscured by the abundant growth of coyotebrush, toyon, sagebrush, and buckwheat. Homeowner (and dream client) performs much of the landscape maintenance himself, as well as propagates his own saffron buckwheat from mother plants growing in the yard, deepening his connection with this rare species.
